Concord, ON – Inside the entertaining ‘Dave and Buster’s’ franchise, WCP founder Rick Smiciklas held a press conference confirming the upcoming card for “Super Brawl,” now just weeks away. The head table was stacked with some of Canada’s well-known boxing personalities including the legendary George Chuvalo, current Canadian Boxing Federation (CBF) heavyweight champion Neven Pajkic, former CBF and Commonwealth cruiserweight champion Troy Ross and former CBF heavyweight king Ray Olubowale. UFC fighters Sean Pierson and Claude Patrick were seated alongside their boxing counterparts, showing moral support for their pugilistic brethren.
a
Smiciklas opened the floor confirming the final draft for this highly anticipated event. Its official, by placing tight restraints regarding potential opponents for Troy Ross, the Ontario Athletic Commission has prevented Ross from fighting entirely at WCP2. A disappointment for all, but by Ross’ own testament, “I’ll be on the next show that may be held sometime in May.” Ross will be fighting in Montreal with Smiciklas close-by, the first weekend following the Barrie show.

Ray Olubowale (8-4-1, 5KO) took to the microphone and firmly announced that Ross is a world champion, boldly stating that he was ‘robbed’ of the title. He showed discontent regarding the slanderous comments Tye “Big Sky” Fields (44-2, 40 KO) directed at him during a recent post-fight interview. These two were to have met recently in Edmonton, but Olubowale was forced to withdraw due to a laceration sustained during a sparring session in preparation for the fight. “Big Sky” took this action as an act of cowardice and openly suggested that “Mount Kilimanjaro” was dodging the brawl. Frustrated and insulted, Olubowale promised to expose and “punish” Fields at their next engagement.
a
Neven Pajkic (15-0, 5 KO) has been confirmed to face Louisiana fighter Johnnie White (22-3, 18 KO). Smiciklas contends that White is an aggressive opponent, known for his power punching. The two will be fighting for the vacant NABA Canadian Heavyweight title. It will be White’s first fight outside the United States and also his first on Canadian soil. White’s recorded boasts 22 wins with only three defeats. His loses were acquired over his last four outings. This will be a true test for Pajkic and an opportunity to add another honour to his collection of Canadian accolades.
a
Undefeated local fighter Denton Daley (3-0, 1 KO) is matched against Taylor Bull (1-1, 1KO). Undefeated top prospect Milos “Wild Wing Warrior” Pantelic (1-0, 1KO) will now face Taffo Asongwed (0-5-3) from Montreal. In the light heavyweight division, “Silent” Steve Franjic (1-0, 1KO) is set against British Columbia fighter Tyrell MacDougall (1-1-1, 1KO). Last but not least, former CBF cruiserweight champion Frank White(7-3-2, 5KO) will be pitted against Jason Douglas (8-3, 4KO) of Kitchener, Ontario, in the cruiserweight division.
a
WCP has kept all promises, less one bout. The blame for this, however, falls to the Ontario Athletic Commission. If it weren’t for the defiance of a commissioner, Troy Ross would certainly be in action in Barrie. Despite Ross’ best intentions and WCP’s tireless efforts, the Athletic Commission robbed the fans of an exciting and legitimate cruiserweight contest. This milestone event will open a gateway for more Canadian talent to be recognized and appreciated on an international level, and thus, Boxing is given another chance for fans and aficionado’s alike.
