On Saturday October 1st, 2011 it was fight time at the Pierre-Charbonneau Center in Montreal, Quebec as Ali Charles Bestor presented UGC 28. Three exciting bouts were scheduld for the boxing fans eager for action and they were not disappointed. Tony ‘’The Lightning’’ Luis, Roody Pierre-Paul and Ali Nestor Charles were ready to give it their all.

Tony’’The Lightning’’Luis Versus Alejandro Barrera

In the main event of the evening, Tony Luis (12-0, 4KO’s) of Cornwall, Ontario, fought Alejandro Barrera (21-8, 14KO’s) of Mexico City, Mexico. Nicknamed the Lightning for his incredible speed, Tony Luis was sharp and lethal on this night. However, Barrera possessed much more experience and had fought  very serious opposition in his career, like Cesar Soto, Benoit Gaudet and Rey Bautsita to name a few, but Luis was on a mission last night.

This fight was fro the vacant Light welterweight WBC Continental Americas title. Not known for his power, The Lightning quickly found a mark on Barrera’s body by dropping him with a brutal left hook early in the first round. Like a shark, Luis went on the attack again with rapid fire hooks combinations to the body and head of his opponent. Overwhelmed by Luis’s barrage of punches, Barrera went down again at the end of the round. Read More

At the Pierre Carbonneau Centre in Montreal, Quebec with what one might think was taking place in Cornwall, ON due to a majority of faithful Cornwall fans on hand to support their native son. Tony Luis would not disappoint them by capturing the WBC Continental Americas Light Welterweight title with a KO in the first round, thus making a statement that he is one of the best Lightweights in the country. The knockout came at the 3 minute mark of the first round. Alejandro Barrera started the fight with jabs followed by solid right hands. From the opening round It would appear to boxing fans that this would prove to be a tough fight for Luis. Once Luis felt Barrera’s right hand a couple of times and shook it off without a second thought, it would be the turning point of the fight. Luis went into high gear and dropped Barrera with a solid left hook to the body. Barrera would beat the count, but not for long. Once the fight resumed a second body shot would drop him to his knees where I could see him wincing from the pain and shaking his head no more several times as he took the full 10 count to end the fight. Tony Luis moves to 13-0, 5KO’s. When asked who he would like to fight next, Tony would only say “Whoever my manager puts in front of me”. In Tony’s final statement he would scream out “Thank you Cornwall, ON for your support”. Read More
