On Nov. 25, 2011, in Moncton, New Brunswick, Stephan Boyd destroyed Paul Clavette to win the N.A.B.A Canadian Middleweight Title in another action packed card put together by Mike and Ulysse Doiron of Victory Boxing Promotions in association with Jensen Strauss Boxing Limitee and Casino New Brunswick. Top Canadian trainers Carlos Varela Sr and Carlos Varela Jr promised that their boxer, Boyd, would be new and improved, with amongst other things, Mexican style body punching for this fight. The first round dictated what happened in the fight as Boyd controlled the space of the fight at length hitting Clavette with hard pinpoint jabs and right hands mixed to the head and the body. As early as the second round Boyd hurt Clavette with shots to the body. In the third round Clavette was dropped twice by hard shots to the body and the fourth and fifth was more of the same. Clavette was being battered post to post in the fifth when the corner of Clavette rightfully threw in the towel at 1:55. At that point Clavette was in serious trouble and his corner tended to him while he sat on his stool for a few minutes after the fight. With the win Boyd, under new management with Jensen Strauss Boxing Limitee, puts himself in the thick of things in the Canadian Middleweight scene and for bigger fights ahead. After the fight New Champion Boyd thanked, amongst a number of people, everyone down at Cabbagetown Boxing gym for helping to get him into razor sharp condition for the fight. Read More
