The Boxing Examiner recently had an opportunity to sit down with undefeated Canadian Lightweight prospect Logan McGuinness 8-0 4 KO’s. This is what he had to say;

TBE: How is your training going.

LM: Training has been going good. I just had a fight in Edmonton where I scored a 4th round stoppage.

TBE: The Boxing Examiner recently spoke with Ontario Lightweight Champion Buzz Grant and he indicated that there were minor contract details still to be ironed out between your camps before a fight can go forth on January 16th do you have any comment on that.

LM: I don’t know exactly what’s going on, all I know myself is that I signed a contract in September for an 8 round fight at 135lbs. That’s really all I know.

TBE: So as far as you are concerned you will be fighting Buzz Grant on January 16th at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga?

LM: As far as I know, yes!

TBE: Buzz indicated that the fight could be for the vacant Canadian Lightweight title then after our interview he contacted The Boxing Examiner and indicated that he received word that your camp turned down the fight as a title opportunity?

LM: You’ll have to ask my manager Steve Den Elzen about that.

Note:(The Boxing Examiner asked for a statement from Mr. Den Elzen through Logan McGuinness)

TBE: So what do you have planned between now and January?

LM: Adam (Harris) has mentioned a few dates but nothing is concrete I’m just training and I’ll be ready for whatever comes up.

TBE: Your weight recently has been very near the Jr. Lightweight division. Do you plan on staying at Lightweight or dropping to Jr. Lightweight?

LM: We’ve been thinking about Jr; Lightweight but I haven’t been working with my Strength and Conditioning Coach for the last 6 weeks so I may have lost a bit of muscle mass but I have started back up with him so we’re going to see how my weight is.

TBE: Do you have anything to say in closing?

LM: Yes, I’d like to thank Hennessey Sports Canada specifically Adam Harris for bringing me the TV exposure and keeping me busy, I’d also like to thank my trainer Chris Johnson and my manager Steve Den Elzen and the guys at Clancy’s Boxing Academy for the great sparring, guys like Sammy “The Bull” Vargas who will be turning pro soon and Andrew Kooner and Steve Molitor.

TBE: You have a lot of good sparring here.

LM: Great sparring!

TBE: Thank you for taking the time and talking with The Boxing Examiner today and best of luck in your upcoming fights, we’ll be watching!

LM: I’d like to thank you and all the boxing fans out there for the support.
