Spencer Victorious at Box Offs!

In one of the greatest trilogies in Canadian amateur boxing history multi time World Champion Mary Spencer of Windsor, Ontario claimed the 75kg National Championship defeating reigning National and multi time World Champion Ariane Fortin from Quebec 11-10 on Wednesday night at the Box Offs held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. On Thursday night the two met again and the bout ended in a 14-14 tie after four rounds however Spencer won via a 30-29 count back.
Fortin defeated Spencer last month at the Canadian National championships held in Quebec as both women stole the show fighting unquestionably the bout of the tournament there. This victory moves Spencer one step closer to her dream of winning an Olympic Gold medal for Canada at the 2012 Summer Games.
Congratulations to both women who prove just why women’s boxing deserves it rightful place at the 2012 Summer Games in London, UK.
