Brosch Captures Canadian Welterweight Title
a
a
In the main event of the evening Mississauga’s “Mighty” Tebor Brosch (6-3-4, 2KO’s) won the vacant Canadian Professional Boxing Council Welterweight championship by split decision over Hamilton’s Justin “The Matrix” Fountain (6-3-3, 2KO’s) by scores of 68-66 & 67-66 Brosch and 68-65 for Fountain. The fight was stopped by the doctor at the end of the seventh round due to a large cut over Fountain’s right eye caused by an accidental clash of heads.
a
a
The fight was a seesaw battle with both fighters visibly showing the effects of the hard combinations they traded. Fountain entered the ring with a small bruise under his left eye and the left eye was eventually cut by a Brosch punch in the third round however it did not cause him any problems. However in the same round Brosch sustained a large scrap under his right eye. By the fourth round the fight resembled more of a street fight as both fighters held and punched away on each other in the clinch.
a
The referee had to stop the action on two seperate occasions, once in the second and once in the sixth round to warn both fighters to stop holding and hitting. In the sixth round the fighters heads came together opening the cut over Fountain’s eye that eventually ended the fight. The blood pouring into Fountain’s eye defintely caused him problems and Brosch took full advantage of the situation and clearly won the sixth and seventh rounds giving him enough for the decison victory when the fight was stopped. This was a rematch between the two; their first fight in August 2008, ended in a six round draw.

McGuinness Annihilates Banos in One
a
a
Orangeville’s rising prospect Logan Cotton McGuinness (11-0-1, 5KO’s) remained undefeated and made good on his promise by utterly destroying former Quebec Champion Jorge Banos (6-7-3) by vicious knockout at 2:17 of the first round. McGuinness came out on fire establishing a crushing body attack digging in rights to the solar plexus and left hooks to the liver that rocked Banos into the ropes. Banos hung on for dear life trying to cover up his body but with his guard lowered McGuinness unleashed hell delivering sharp combinations to Banos’s head.
a
a
The overwhelming punishment dropped Banos about one minute into the fight. Banos was able to beat the count and was on his bicycle trying to evade the aggression of McGuinness but was caught with a second flurry of hooks to the body and head that forced Banos to the canvass a second time. Again Banos beat the count but McGuinness pinned him in the corner unloading his arsenal all over Banos which forced the Montreal fighter’s corner to throw in the towel. However, the referee did not see the towel at first and the punishment continued for an additional fifteen seconds until the massacre was eventually called to a halt at 2:17 seconds of the opening round. This was a rematch between the two; McGuinness won their first match in October 2009 by a four round unanimous decision.

Daley Remains Undefeated
a
a
In a battle of undefeated fighters Mississauga’s “Dangerous” Denton Daley (3-0, 1KO) remained undefeated scoring a four round unanimous decision over Montreal’s Pasteur Mbuya (2-1, 1KO) by scores of 39-37, 39-37 & 39-36. Daley’s explosive style was impressive to watch however he missed a lot of his punches and fell forwards touching the canvass. In addition, he would come at Mbuyi with his hands at his sides leaving him wide open for Mbuya’s counterpunches. However, Daley definitely was the faster fighter and landed the better combinations throughout the fight. Early in the second round Daley dropped Mbuyi with a sensational four punch combination and never let up for the rest of the fight.

Wagner Knocks Out Aucoin
a
a
Orangeville’s Ryan Wagner (2-0, 1KO) looked very impressive in the second fight of his career by knocking out St. Williams, Chris Aucoin (3-4-1) in devastating fashion at :36 seconds of round three. Wagner looked a lot more poised and confident in his second fight maybe due to the fact that he had trainer Bryon Mackie in his corner for this fight. Mackie was the co-promoter and ring announcer in Wagner’s pro debut and was unavailable to work his corner.
a
In the opening round Wagner dropped Aucoin with a hand right hand however it was ruled a slip by the referee. Wagner continued his onslaught and started to use his right uppercut which was very effective. In the second round Wagner hurt with a hook and almost dropped Aucoin at the end of the round. Early in the third round Wagner stalked Aucoin looking for his opening and when it came he striked landing a huge overhand right to Aucoin’s temple dropping him straight backwards to the canvass. Aucoin valiantly tried to make it back to his feet but to no avail as the referee’s count reached ten.

Pierce Successful in Debut
a
In the opening contest Courtice’s Jonas Pierce (1-0) won his pro debut against Toronto’s Horace Hunter (0-2) by a four round unanimous decision. All three judges scored the contest 39-37. The southpaw Hunter was the much more aggressive fighter as he chased Piece around the ring trying to land combinations. Pierce on the other hand would move back and stop landing one or two punches then quickly move out of range. Pierce scored the most impressive punch in the fight; a right uppercut to Hunter’s chin however Hunter was the busier fighter throughout. The crowd did not agree with the judge’s decision booing loudly in disgust.
