Trupish Defends Canadian Title Against Sharpe in Edmonton!

Posted by Rick McLean on August 19, 2010 at 15:30 pm

a

On September 24th Alliance Promotions will host a night of professional boxing at “The Hanger of Kingsway” in Edmonton, Alberta.  The main event will feature the current NCC Canadian Middleweight champion and multiple time Olympian, Adam Trupish (6-0, 3KO’s) defend his NCC Canadian title against Pine Falls, Manitoba resident Larry “Razor” Sharpe (25-8, 12KO’s).  Sharpe is a former Canadian Middleweight champion in his own right as well as a former WBA Fedecentro light middleweight and WBA North American Super Welterweight champion as well.

 a

This will be a very interesting match up because the 36 year old Sharpe has a lot more in ring experience in the pro ranks however he is at the end of his career and has hinted at retirement a couple times in the past.  On the other hand Trupish is 31 years old and remained an amateur for a long time and knows that he has to take big steps in the near future.

The undercard bouts will be announced in the near future and so stay tuned to The Boxing Examiner.com to learn further about the undercard as well as about ticket information and prices.

(April 30, 2010) Six fights took place on April 30, 2010 at the Palace Banquet Hall in Edmonton.  The event was entitled:  “Time to Shine” and was dedicated to the memory of Arthur Mercante Sr.  The Main Event of the evening was for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Cruiserweight Title and saw James Cermak, 16-2-1, 12 KO’s of Edmonton and Frank White, 7-3-2, 5 KO’s of Sarnia, Ontario fight to a 115-114 (White), 114-114, 114-114 majority draw.

Former CBF Cruiserweight Title holder Frank White and Edmonton’s own James Cermak fought a great 12 round battle on Friday night in Edmonton.  In the early rounds of the fight White came out early landing his trademark looping overhand right however Cermak was surprisingly unfazed by this power shot.  Cermak showed a calm demeanour, landing well placed body shots and jabs.  White started to get his jab going and was also putting together 3 punch combinations. Cermak remained calm, waiting for his opportunity to counterpunch.

One-on-One with Adam Trupish!

Posted by Durell Wambolt on March 11, 2010 at 17:10 pm

TheBoxingExaminer.com had a chance to chat with former 2x Canadian Olympian Adam Trupish (4-0 3KO’s) recently. See what Adam had to say about his upcoming challenge for the vacant Canadian Middleweight title and his opponent Michael Walchuk…

a

TBE: How has everything been progressing in the gym Adam?

 a

AT: Training has been good we’ve moved to a larger facility to accommodate the number members and after our first year we have our first national junior champion; Julian Klima at 70kg and silver medalist Siobhan Mangal, 57 female junior, very proud of both of them.

 a

TBE: This is by far your toughest test as a professional, what do you expect from Walchuk?

  a

AT: As a pro my toughest test, but in boxing as a whole Walchuk couldn’t tie some of my opponents shoe laces. I have been in the ring with the best in the world, many world champions both amateur and professional. Unfortunately, what I expect from Walchuk is for him to be on his bike for the fight. If you want to win, fight! If you want to run join the track team. But I’m prepared for whatever he brings to the table. Read More

Knockout Night in Edmonton!

There was a great showing of support last night at the Palace in Edmonton where boxing fans where treated to 5 bouts and all of the Edmonton based fighters notched victories.

a

In the Main Event of the evening Jason DeLaronde scored a fourth round TKO victory over Steven Walker of Hannibal, MO.  If time away from the ring was a factor for DeLaronde last night it didn’t really show because from the opening bell DeLaronde was the aggressor and showed confidence and good footwork.  Walker found himself on the receiving end of some vicious body shot.  Steven had some good head movement but was backing straight up out of the pocket and DeLaronde capitalised on this and ended the match in the fourth round with a perfect shot to the body.  With the victory DeLaronde moves to 11-0 while Walker is now 23-24-1. Mr. Knockout – David Lemieux (20-0 20KO’s) seems to be a growing boy. The 21 year old Lemieux was to face Jason Naugler (18-11 11KO’s) for the vacant Canadian Middleweight belt up for grabs.

Sources tell TheBoxingExaminer.com that the 2 will now duke it out for the vacant Canadian Super Middleweight title as Lemieux is finding it more difficult to make the Middleweight limit of 160lbs. The bout will take place at the Montreal Casino on February 6th.

Look for 2x Canadian Olympian Adam Trupish (3-0 2KO’s) to challenge for the vacant Canadian Middleweight belt some time in the spring.

“Lil’ Tyson” Sandy Tsagouris (10-1 4KO’s) has 2 bouts tentatively scheduled. Look for the former world title challenger Tsagouris to return to the ring in Connecticut in March and then back in Brantford, Ontario in May!
