Lemieux Knocks Out Smichet

a

(April 3, 2010)  Tonight at a sold out Casino Montreal, GYM (Groupe Yvon Michel) held its 45th and last show at the casino.

a

In the main event of the evening WBC Jr. Intercontinental and Canadian Super Middleweight champion David Lemieux of Laval, Quebec knocked out Walid Smichet of St. Eustache at the 0:57 second mark of the second round successfully defending his Canadian title.

 a

Lemieux went straight at Smichet showing no fear of his ring experience landing hard accurate combinations that had Smichet staggered and reeling around the ring.  In the second round Lemieux continued his assault on Smichet and dropped him with a thundering left hook.  Smichet made it to his feet by 5 and staggered into his corner.  The referee asked Smichet to walk to him where the referee then waved the fight off.  This was another impressive knockout in Lemieux’s young career over a rugged veteran proving once again that he is the real deal.

Bizier Batters Negron

 a

At the start of the bout Bizier extended his hand to Negron in a show of sportsmanship however Negron hit Bizier which might have been his only effective punch of the round.  Bizier took it right to Negron scoring crushing combinations to the head and body that had Negron scampering backwards in a defensive shell. Mr. Knockout – David Lemieux (20-0 20KO’s) seems to be a growing boy. The 21 year old Lemieux was to face Jason Naugler (18-11 11KO’s) for the vacant Canadian Middleweight belt up for grabs.

Sources tell TheBoxingExaminer.com that the 2 will now duke it out for the vacant Canadian Super Middleweight title as Lemieux is finding it more difficult to make the Middleweight limit of 160lbs. The bout will take place at the Montreal Casino on February 6th.

Look for 2x Canadian Olympian Adam Trupish (3-0 2KO’s) to challenge for the vacant Canadian Middleweight belt some time in the spring.

“Lil’ Tyson” Sandy Tsagouris (10-1 4KO’s) has 2 bouts tentatively scheduled. Look for the former world title challenger Tsagouris to return to the ring in Connecticut in March and then back in Brantford, Ontario in May!
