1)      Jeannine Garside beat previously undefeated  Ina Menzer, who many considered the best pound for pound fighter in the world, this weekend. Without question Garside can lay claim to being the best Featherweight in the world.  For those that know Jeannine’s climb thru adversity inside and outside of the ring these past few years….well hats off to team Garside. If I was a betting man I would say, no doubt, that a rematch clause was already in place. If there is any chance to swing that fight in Canada we Canadian fight fans would be delighted.  At this point, at least in my mind, as we stand half way thru the year,  Garside has to have major consideration as comeback fighter of the year, and not only Canadian Female fighter of the year, but perhaps Female fighter of the year period.   And how about our Canadian Female fighters as we come off this lovely Canada day. Olivia, Lisa, Jeannine- all world champions. Wouldn’t it be something if we could get all these ladies defending their respective titles on a National Women’s Day date and promote the heck out of it for all the ladies to come out…. ah well, I do like to dream (sponsors please, Chatelaines, Fashion TV etc  etc etc- think outside the box folks).

P.S- Jeannine Garside is drop dead gorgeous and….yes she can fight. Read More

On Wednesday June 30, 2010 at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario Neven “No Surrender” Pajkic (13-0, 5KO’s) retained his Canadian Heavyweight title in convincing fashion in the rematch over former champion Greg “The Steele Pole” Kielsa (11-2, 5KO’s) by a 100-90, 99-91 & 99-91 unanimous decision.  Both men had a great deal of supporters wearing their respected country of origin’s attire that one would typically see worn at the world cup of soccer.  There were many moments early in the fight that it would seem impossible that both men could withstand the punishment of punches and the pace that is seldom seen in heavyweight boxing.

a

Neven continuously came forward attempting to land big shots all the way through the fight.  Greg on the other hand seemed beaten before they had even reached the second half of the fight.  Both men showed toughness and durability but the deciding factor was who wanted it more and Neven most certainly proved that by winning almost every round in the fight. Julaton Captures Vacant WBO Title By Split Decision

The second bout on the card saw Anna “Hurricane” Julanton capture the WBO women’s Super Bantamweight championship against Mexico’s Maria Villalobos by a controversial 97-94 (Villalobos), 96-94 (Julaton), and 96-94 (Julaton) split decision.  The fight began with Ana landing stiff jolting jabs but followed with minimal combination’s. Maria came out strong and as the fight progressed landed several strong right handed looping punches giving Ana a mouse under her left eye that eventually swelled shut by the end of the fight.  Ana tried to play to the crowd however they booed the decision feeling Villalobos won the fight.

Lipanov Stops Perrot

In his pro debut Artem “The Russian Tank” Lipanov made quick work of  former Toronto Maple Leaf, Nathan “Rock” Perrot.  The bout was stopped at the three minute mark of the first round.  Perrot was dropped by a hard right hand and after that his legs didn’t seem to be under him and he was dropped for a second time and two other occasions voluntarily falling to the canvas.  Artem moves to 1-0 (1) and Nathan falls to 1-2 (1).

Neven Pajkic, The Canadian Heavyweight Championship and a History of Violence

Posted by Eugene on June 21, 2010 at 15:58 pm

By Mike Schmidt- Freelance

It would be an understatement to say that Canadian Heavyweight Champion Neven Pajkic is one of the more interesting characters in the world of heavyweight boxing. The Serbian, who stands six feet four inches and weighs in at a natural two hundred forty pounds is an imposing figure. Don’t let the dry sense of humor fool you. The eyes say a lot and in Pajkics case they remind you of Roberto Duran. There is some mischievous look in those eyes mixed with a threat of fearless violence, whether getting or giving. Not the kind of chap you would want to bump into on a dark night in an alley as my dear old dad used to like to say. Aside from boxing Pajkic has built up a nice filmography resume in a short period of time including rolls as “Mercenary # 6” in “Death Warrior” and “Richies Thug” in “A History of Violence.” Next week at Casino Rama, in Ontario, Canada, he will apply his own legal brand of a history of violence and rest assured it will not remotely look like the film version of “Richies Thug” getting dropped for the permanent count, so to speak, by famous actor Viggo Mortensen Read More

Molitor Recaptures I.B.F. World Title

a

a

(March 27, 2010)  Last night at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario Orion Sports held Rumble at Rama XI.  The event centre was packed and the main event and co main event were broadcasted live on TSN and the entire card was live on the GMA network out of the Philippines.

a

In the main event of the evening Steve “The Canadian Kid” Molitor (31-1, 12 KO’s) of Mississauga, ON recaptured his I.B.F. Junior Featherweight world championship against Takalani “The Panther” Ndlovu (30-5, 18 KO’s) of South Africa by a 117-111, 116-112, 115-113 unanimous decision.  This was a rematch of the two; Molitor won the first fight by knockout.

a

In the opening round both fighters were patient feeling each other out. Molitor tried to find his range and tagged Ndlovu with a hard straight right hand, the best punch of the round.  Ndlovu would back peddle when Molitor put the pressure on him and did not land any effective punches in the round.  The chess match continued in the second round as both fighters were reserved, not taking any chances.  Both fighters were not throwing many punches in a very difficult round to score.  The Rama crowd was getting very impatient at this point in the fight. Fighters go Nose-to-Nose at Final Rumble at Rama XI Presser

One of the Deepest Cards in Canadian Boxing History Just Days Away

With time ticking away prior to Rumble at Rama XI, topped by the rematch between Steve Molitor (30-1, 12 KO’s) and Takalani Ndlovu (30-5, 18 KO’s, IBF #1) for the vacant IBF Junior Featherweight championship, the six main combatants involved went face-to-face Thursday in Toronto for the final press conference. In the main event, Molitor will try to become a two-time world champion, and regain the title he lost to Celestino Caballero in November of 2008 via 4th round TKO.

a

To do that, he’ll have to turn back time nearly three years, and repeat his sensational performance against Ndlovu in July of 2007. In what was Molitor’s first of five successful title defenses, “The Canadian Kid” battered the South African from pillar-to-post in the very same Casino Rama ring that they’ll step into Saturday night, en route to a one-sided ninth round TKO beating. One-on-One with Allan Tremblay

Posted by Durell Wambolt on February 21, 2010 at 21:52 pm

February 21, 2010

TheBoxingExaminer.com had the opportunity recently to sit down for an exclusive One-on-One chat with Allan Tremblay,  President and CEO of Orion Sports Management to discuss his upcoming Promotions in Puerto Rico and Ontario.  Here is what he had to say…

a

a

TBE:  Rumble @ Rama XI looks like a blockbuster with 3 title fights!  You executed exactly what you said you would, positioning Steve Molitor for another shot at the world championship.

a

AT:  It hasn’t come easy!  Negotiating with Branco Milenkovic from Branco Productions in South Africa was the most difficult undertaking I’ve had to endure in my time in boxing.  He is a man that has won purse bids, the last 6 purse bids accumulatively with Top Rank Boxing, Golden Boy and Don King and come out successfully so it was a daunting task going in.  I think the only reason that I had the chance to succeed is that I’ve had a personal relationship with him.  I met him in South Africa when he was starting out when we were there for the Vabaza fight that allowed me to have a discussion where dollars traded hands to allow Molitor to come here.
