Results From Montreal!

In the main event of the season finale of ESPN2 Friday Night Fight series Hammering Hank Lundy, now 19-1-1, 10KO’s defeated Omri Lowther, who drops to 14-2, 10KO’s by a ten round unanimous decision at the Metropolis Club in Montreal.  Judges Jean Gauthier and Pasquale Procopio scored the fight 100-90 and Claude Paquette scored it 98-92.

The fight was a very technical affair right from the start as both fighters were looking for the opportunity to counter.  However it was evident that Lundy was the faster, busier and more skilled boxer as the fight progressed.  Lowther was too hesitant in the bout looking to counter punch far too often and was unable to put his punches together or find a rhythm.  Lundy took advantage of this and lured Lowther in and mixed up his attack to the head and body.  Late in both rounds eight and nine Lundy caught Lowther with some heavy combinations that staggered him.  Lowther tried to put more pressure on Lundy in the tenth round but it was too little too late. Lowther and Cherry the Main Event in Season Finale of Friday Night Fights!

Toronto, Ontario based fighter Omri Lowther (14-1, 10KO’s) will be facing savvy veteran Edner “Cherry Bomb” Cherry (27-6-2, 15KO’s)  in the 10 round main event on the season finale of ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights being held at the Metropolis in Montreal, Quebec on Saturday August 28th.  Lowther is coached in Toronto by world class trainer Chris Johnson.  The card is being promoted by GYM Groupe Yvon Michel.  The tentative undercard will feature:

Toronto, Ontario’s Sammy “The Bull” Vargas (4-0, 1KO) vs. TBD

Montreal, Quebec’s Ahmad Chiekho (2-2-2, 1KO) vs. TBD

Saint-Emile, Quebec’s Kevin Bizier (11-0, 7KO’s) vs. TBD

Quick Results from Cancun, Mexico

Mississauga based Lightweight Omri Lowther (14-1 10KO’s) made his first bout with his new team a successful one by stopping Isaac Bejarano tonight in Cancun, Mexico. The corner saved Bejarano him from further punishment in the 4th round.  Lowther is now trained by Chris “Showtime” Johnson and promoted by Hennessy Sports Canada.  It was Bejarano’s first bout since being outpointed over 6 rounds by Corwall, Ontario’s Tony Luis in December 2009.  Look for Lowther to return to the ring in his new home of Mississauga on September 25th.
