Put up or shut up time for Sebastian Gauthier
www.TheBoxingExaminer.com
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario (December 15, 2011) — Two-time world super bantamweight champion Steve “The Canadian Kid” Molitor has picked out the perfect Christmas present for provincial rival Sebastian Gauthier, wrapped with a bow on top and even delivered it to Quebec City. Unfortunately, at least for now, the gift remains unopened.
Last month in Gauthier’s backyard, after Molitor (34-2, 12 KOs) won a 10-round split decision on the Lucian Bute-Glenn Johnson card at Pepsi Center in Quebec City, Team Gauthier loudly complained about an unfair outcome and requested an immediate rematch. Team Molitor has officially offered a rematch February 11 to Gauthier (21-3, 13 KOs) at Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, which is where Steve lives and trains.
“It was a fairly easy fight for me,” Molitor said, “other than for the massive cut over my eye that I got from a head-butt in the first round. The cut bled into my eye (left) the whole fight and it was difficult for me to see. I hurt him a few times but couldn’t stick to my plan because of all the blood in my eye. It riled me a little and I lost my train of thought. I’ve been boxing 23 years and knew that a cut above the eye wasn’t dangerous or reason to stop the fight. I was a little worried about that, though, when the doctor checked me right before the 10th round. Read More

The Boxing Examiner.com recently spoke with Steve Molitor, one of the finest Canadian and International boxing talents around. Indeed, his track record speaks for itself with 34 wins and only 2 defeats. The Canadian Kid went on to conquer the Canadian Super Bantamweight division plus the WBF, Commonwealth and NABA bantamweight championships. Most importantly, this fast and accurate southpaw from Sarnia, Ontario, has excelled worldwide, wining the IBF Jr Featherweight Championship on two occasions. Since losing his title last March in South Africa against Takalani Ndlovu, Molitor is on a mission to reassert his dominance in the super bantamweight division.
The Boxing Examiner: How did you first become interested in boxing?
Steve Molitor: My older brother started boxing about a year before I did, he inspired me.
TBE: What are some of the highlights of your amateur days?
SM: I’m a 10 time Ontario champion, 5 time National Champion, and I fought at the Pam-Am Games where I lost a close decision to the Cuban 5-4. I fought in the World Championships where I lost to the eventual Silver medalist Omar Navarez, who is a multi-time world champion and recently fought Nonito Donaire.

On Saturday, November 5, 2011, Interbox presented Lucian Bute versus Glen Johnson from Quebec City, Quebec, live on Showtime PPV. The main event was complemented by six thrilling bouts featuring Pier Olivier Coté, Steve Molitor, Sebastien Gauthier, Sebastien Demers, Kevin Bizier and other talented pugilists. The event marked Lucian Bute’s first contest in Quebec City since his second fight with Librado Andrade. An impressive 15,306 fans were in attendance.
In the twelve round IBF super middleweight championship attraction, defending champion Lucian Bute ( 29-0-0, 24 KO), a native Romanian, now fighting out of Montreal, Quebec, faced the “Road Warrior” Glen Johnson ( 51-15-2, 35 KO), a former IBF light heavyweight champion from Miami, Florida. The contest marked Bute’s ninth title defence and Johnson’s second super middleweight title challenge in a row.
Johnson is a proud warrior with many accomplishments in the ring, including the 2004 fighter of the year award. The “Road Warrior” came into this contest with victories over Roy Jones Jr, Antonio Tarver, Eric Harding and Clinton Woods. Johnson also earned a victory over Allan Green – Sebastien Demers’ opponent on the card – in the Showtime Super Six Tournament. In his sixty-nine fight career, Johnson has been stopped just once, by future hall of famer, Bernard Hopkins in 1997. Bute knew this would be a tough defence. No stranger to success himself, Bute holds notable victories on Edison Miranda, Librado Andrade, William Joppy and Alejandro Berrio. Most recently, Bute needed less than four rounds to stop undefeated contender Jean Paul Mendy (29-0-1) in Romania. Read More

(PRESS RELEASE) Territorial advantage and screams from the crowd will not be enough to help Takalani “The Panther” Ndlovu dethrone IBF junior featherweight champion Steve Molitor on Saturday night, warned the Canadian.
a
“There is no shadow of doubt that I will beat Takalani in front of his supporters on Saturday,” said Molitor straight up at a press conference in Johannesburg yesterday.
a
Molitor is a seasoned campaigner who has been to war.
a
Ndlovu will need to fight like a man possessed in every round in order to convince the judges and make up for two failed attempts against Molitor.
a
Their highly anticipated third meeting will take place at Nasrec Arena near Soweto where Ndlovu, the mandatory challenger, comes from.
a
Promoter Branco Milenkovic, who will present the fight, wants Ndlovu to win in order for South Africa to have two IBF champions.
