22 yr old Kitchener native Mandy Bujold easily defeated former National Team member Jacqui Parks of Burlington in the 51 kgs Elite Womens Final on points 11-3.  Bujold, who trains with the Waterloo Regional Boxing Academy won the Gold Medal and her 5th National Title.  The National Elite Boxing Championships were held this past week in Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec. There was a great showing of support last night at the Palace in Edmonton where boxing fans where treated to 5 bouts and all of the Edmonton based fighters notched victories.

In the Main Event of the evening Jason DeLaronde scored a fourth round TKO victory over Steven Walker of Hannibal, MO.  If time away from the ring was a factor for DeLaronde last night it didn’t really show because from the opening bell DeLaronde was the aggressor and showed confidence and good footwork.  Walker found himself on the receiving end of some vicious body shot.  Steven had some good head movement but was backing straight up out of the pocket and DeLaronde capitalised on this and ended the match in the fourth round with a perfect shot to the body.  With the victory DeLaronde moves to 11-0 while Walker is now 23-24-1.
